John H. Bierly passed away on May 28, 2011 in Gaston, OR. A graveside service will be held Friday, June 3, 2011 at 11:00 am at Pike Cemetery just outside of Yamhill, Oregon. A memorial service will be held at the 7th Day Adventist Church (Wayside Chapel) in Gaston, OR on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 12:00 pm. Viewing will be held at the Chapel of Macy and Son on Thursday, June 2, 2011 from 3-7pm.
John, son of Titus and Grace Botticker Bierly, was born on January 18, 1923 in Oregon City, OR. John moved to McMinnville in 1934 and graduated from McMinnville High School in 1941. After graduation, John served in the United States Army. He attended I.T.T. school for 4 years and worked at John Deere for many years as a mechanic. John married Pauling Stratemeyer in 1944 at Vancouver, WA. John married Betty Delp on October 6, 1968 in Caldwell, Idaho. John and Betty were married for over 29 years until her death in 1998.
John loved hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. He has been a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church in Gaston since 1996. John married Glenda Fern Jackson on November 8, 2003 at the Wayside Chapel in Gaston. They made their home in Gaston until her death in 2009.
John is survived by 3 daughters: Barbara Bierly, Debra Bierly, and Julie Drill; 2 step children: Sherry Harnage and Kenneth Thomas; 2 sisters: Margaret Walter and Sharon Bierly; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by 1 brother, Wayne Bierly; 2 sisters: Elsie Gamroth and Lorreene Knutson.
John was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
