David C. Meyers, of Wellington, Kansas, died Thursday, August 18, 2011 at the Kansas Veterans Center in Winfield, Kansas at the age of 92.
David was born the son of Henry and Maggie (Schaben) Meyers on Friday, August 15, 1919 in Bazine, Kansas.
On May 2, 1942, David and Frances Irene Niedens were united in marriage in Oxford, Kansas. Together they celebrated 69 years of marriage.
He served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II in the Southwest Pacific. David retired as Chief Clerk for the Trainmaster from Sante Fe Railroad.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Meyers of Wellington, Kansas; daughter, Peggy Wilkerson and her husband Terry of Kansas City, Missouri; granddaughter, Carrie Breitenstein and her husband Zac of Kansas City, Missouri and grandson, Andrew Wilkerson of Kansas City, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Stephen Meyers; one sister and two brothers.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home with the family present from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 19, 2011.
Following the visitation, funeral services for David will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 20, 2011 in the chapel of Day Funeral Home, 1030 Mission Road, Wellington, Kansas.
Interment will follow at the Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington, Kansas.
Memorials have been established in his loving memory with Alzheimer's Association, 347 South Laura, Wichita, Kansas 67211. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
