Mitzi Michelle Howell, age 34, a native of Taos, passed away Saturday, November 15, 1997. Mitzi lived her early years in Taos and chose to return after graduating from Colorado State University to make Taos her home.

Mitzi touched many lives with her loving spirit and generous heart. In her work and her avocations Mitzi showed her great love for children and for animals. She was known as a talented artist, a ski instructor with a special gift for teaching children, an EMT, and an architectural designer and draftsman with exacting standards. Mitzi passionately supported the Taos Animal Shelter and its adoption programs. She was most often seen accompanied by one of her several four legged friends.

Mitzi is survived by her mother and stepfather, Gini and Bill McDermott of Los Cordovas, her sister, Tracy Howell Gonzales of Albuquerque, her paternal grandmother, Sally Howell of Taos, her maternal grandfather, Joe Boles, residing in Los Cordovas,(see Find A Grave #74521057) four step-brothers, Dick, and Bret McDermott of Denver, Scot and Drew McDermott of Albuquerque, and their families. She is the daughter of the late Jerry Howell and granddaughter of the late Cecil Howell, both of Taos. Mitzi was also preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Lola Belle Edwards Boles. Friends are inited to join her family in a memorial celebration of Mitzi, Saturday, November 22 at 1 P.M. at the Sagebrush Inn Conference Center in Taos. Mitzi touched our lives with her beauty, her love and her deep compassion.
