Mrs. Willie Mae Jonakin, 91, of Union City died 5:24 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2011, at her home.

Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Eddie Mallonee will officiate. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Allen, Paul Warner, Arthur Mize, Chris Mize, Gerald Tucker and Thomas Byassee

The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of services Sunday.

Mrs. Jonakin was born March 20, 1920, in Kentucky, daughter of the late Claude Ezra and Sallie Mae (Cagle) DeJarnett. She had been employed at the former A&P Grocery in Fulton and had been bookkeeper for her husband, the late Norman Jonakin, at the former Jonakin's Garage in Union City. A member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, she loved animals and was an advocate for animal rights.

She is survived by two sisters, Betty Timm of Bradley, Illinois and Martha Bufford of Tamms, Illinois; her special friends, Jeff and Michelle Allen and their children, Justis and Jett Allen of Troy; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Billy Joe Gore; one brother; and three sisters.
