He was born in Topeka, IL on September 5, 1932, the son of the late Henry and Blanche (Conklin) Wahlfeld.
Howard was proud to serve in the U.S. Marine Corp, earning a Purple Heart in Viet Nam, and retired as a Lt. Colonel after 20 years. He then went on to work as a general agent for A.A.L. In his many careers, Howard's passion was working with training and counseling others, including being a family counselor at Appleton Highland Memorial Park.
He loved nature, boating and spending time with family and friends. Howard will be remembered for being a loyal and dedicated man. He had a sense of humor and was known for lovingly teasing those around him.
Howard is survived by his wife, Shirley; children: Pam (Roger) Fox of Rushville, IL and Erick (Lisa) Wahlfeld of Greenville, WI; step-son: Rodney (fiance, Donna Kyser) Boldt of Appleton, WI; grandchildren: Amy (Shannon) Clyde, Christopher (Erica) Busby, Monty, Desmond, Zachary, Donovan, Courtney, Mitchell, Kevin, Nicholas and Benjamin; great-granddaughter, Maddisyn; sister, Eloise (Jay) Rose; brother, Eldon (Newell) Wahlfeld; and nieces and nephews.
Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park.
