The daughter of Cornelius and Lena Becker, and grew up in Kansas and Missouri. When she was 7, her father died. In her early teen-age years, she worked and lived with other families.
On Sept. 7, 1941, she married Lester D. Wadel at McPherson. They spent the early years of their marriage in Greensburg and later moved to Missouri. He died Sept. 10, 1995. Mrs. Wadel worked on her farm, enjoyed spending time in her garden and tending her flowers, loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed inviting guests for meals and fellowship. She was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite when she was 13.
