Frank was the son of Dennis O'Mahoney, who was born in County Cork, Ireland, in 1851. About 1871, Dennis went to Utah, where he met his wife and Frank's mother, Emma Etna Sadlier. Dennis was a blacksmith and carriage maker employed by the US Army at Fort Bridger. Frank, too, was a blacksmith like his father. Frank never married nor did he have any children. He lived with his father and took care of him towards the end of his life. He had no siblings.
