Sylvia was born in O'Brien, Texas to Oscar and Eva Sparks. Sylvia was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Armona for over 60 years and she loved all of the members as her family.
Sylvia worked as a Bindery Supervisor for 26 years. Sylvia loved to quilt and watch game shows on TV. She was a former member of the Armona Lions Club and Armona Senior Citizens. Sylvia especially enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Sylvia stayed at home as long as she could and then moved to Diamond Terraces where she enjoyed playing bingo and visiting with the people who worked there. The staff was so good to Sylvia and the family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who provided her care.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband and three sons, James, Jerry and Dean Kirklin.
She is survived by one daughter, Hellen Haley and husband, George, her sister, Florence Randall and brother, Lindon Sparks and wife, Linda. She is survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at People's Funeral Chapel, 501 N. Douty St., Hanford, CA on Friday, August 19, 2011 from 5- 7 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Grangeville Cemetery in Armona, CA.
