Funeral services for Mr. Daniel Beecher Young, 80, of Sparta, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, from Hensley's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Burial was in Young Cemetery with Rev. Freddie Savage and Rev. Bill Simmons officiating.

Mr. Young died Friday, Jan. 24 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a merchant and a United States Navy veteran of War II. He was an ordained deacon by the Freewill Baptist Association and a member of Hensley's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.

Born December 2, 1922, in White County, he was the son of the late Will C. and Zemma (Knowles) Young. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ellen (Taylor) Young; a daughter, Brenda Elaine Young; two sisters, Mary Evelyn Young and Margie Lorene Young; and five brothers, William Findley Young, Rhea Young, Paul Young, Oliver Young, and Clay Young.

Survivors include his wife, Christine (Barnes) Young of Sparta; three daughters and a son-in-law, Nelle Greulich and Zemmer Ellen Jenkins, both of Nashville, and Tellie and Michael Mullinix of Livingston; a son and daughter-in-law, Troy Daniel and Rita Young of Sparta; three step-daughters and two step-sons-in-law, Mary L. Young, Judy and Lloyd Young, and Antionette and Leaton Sullivan, all of Sparta; a step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Ed and Lillian Bain of Sparta; a sister, Bonnie (Young) Wills of Sparta; a brother, Grundy Lee Young of Sparta; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
