William "John" Wallace, Jr, age 52, of Baldwin, passed away on April 18, 2005 at Mercy Hospital Cadillac following a long illness. He was born on October 17, 1952 in Lansing to William John, Sr. and Nina Ruth (Avery) Wallace. He attended Baldwin Schools and spent most of his life as a local resident, spending only a short time, while still in his youth, living in the Hastings area following the death of his father. John was a self-employed carpenter by trade and focused primarily on residential construction He loved anything to do with the outdoors including hunting, fishing and sitting around a campfire telling jokes.

John is survived by his sisters, Cathy (William) Walter and Pamela (Steve) Forstner, both of Chase; nieces Kreena Tasava of Hastings and Tina Cullers of Middleville; nephews William DeWitt and Wichita Falls, Texas and Tyler Walter of Chase; a brother-in-law Kreeno (Marie) DeWitt of Hastings and many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and a sister, Louise DeWitt.

Visitation and funeral services took place on Thursday, April 21 and Friday, April 22, 2005 at Verdun Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Baldwin with Pastor David Stiles of Baldwin Baptist Church officiating. Interment followed at Cherry Valley Township Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are welcomed to consider memorial contributions in his name to the benefit of the family. Envelopes are available at Verdun Funeral Home to whom arrangements were entrusted.
