Alfred Emmanuel Pilong, Sr., 81, of Winchester, Virginia, went home to be with his Lord on August 21, 2011, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Pilong was born in 1930, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Joseph F. and Anne Marie Pilong.

He worked for Pennwalt Cooperation in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for 27 years, serving as an accountant and finally as the International Finance Manager. He was a devoted husband, dedicated father, and loving family man. Al was first and foremost an evangelist. He was an incredible man of God and minister of the Gospel who served for over 40 years as an elder, pastor, and prison minister in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New England, Delaware and Virginia. Most recently he was a prison minister at the White Post Diversion Center in Clarke County, Virginia and an active member of Winchester Church of God. Al was an enthusiastic Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles fan.

He married Patricia Anne Pumphrey on May 12, 1956, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Surviving with his wife are six daughters, Beth Anne Gibbs and husband, Stephen, of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, Jayne Marie Kraemer and husband, Mark, of Louisville, Kentucky, Marjorie Ellen Johnson and husband, David, of Georgetown, Texas, Patricia Anne General and husband, Dean, of Mason, Ohio, Eileen Marie Bechler and husband, Mark, of Golden, Colorado, Mary Virginia Garrett and husband, Michael, of Deptford, New Jersey; three sons, Alfred Emmanuel Pilong, Jr. and wife, Lori, of Winchester, Virginia, Joseph Francis Pilong and wife, Sarah, of Middletown, Delaware, John Michael Pilong and wife, Lauren, of Falls Church, Virginia; 26 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren (2 on the way); sisters, Marge Seymour and Mary Lowrey both of Philadelphia Pennsylvania; brothers, Joseph Pilong, Jr. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Thomas Pilong of Greentown, Pennsylvania, Philip Pilong of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and William Pilong of Haddon Heights, New Jersey.

Two sisters, Dolly Dickerson, Agnes Pilong, and one brother, James Pilong, preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, at Winchester Church of God with Reverend Dr. Darrell Waller officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, prior to the service from 11:00 – 12:00 PM at the church.
