VAN ARTHUR McMANIGAL, 63, FORMER COUNTIAN, BURIED RECENTLY
Van Arthur McManigal, 63, native of DeSota but a resident of Walthill, since that town was founded in 1906; died at his hone there Dec. 26 after an illness of six weeks. Methodist funeral rites were held at Walthill Dec. 29, burial following in Evergreen Cemetery there.
Mr. McManigal was a carpenter and mason and later engaged in building contracting. Born Aug. 10, 1894, he was the son of A. B. McManigal and Harriet Stricklett McManigal. He and Miss Harriett Delaney were married in Blair in 1905, and to them were born five children; Theodore, who died in infancy, Mrs. Wayne Lampman (Virginia) of Portland, Or. John of Walt ill ,Mrs. Milford White (Ruey) of Portland, Ore., and a son who died in infancy. In 1933 he married Mrs. Hazel Gobat of Chicago; who with their son, Arthur Jr., and her sons, David Gobat of Chicago and Howard Gobat of Oakland, also survive him.
Other survivors include five brothers, Stanley, Randall, Fern and Byron all of Sioux City and Pienan McManigal of Omaha; three sisters, Mrs. Fanny Hanson of Winner, S. D., Mrs. Margie Davis of South Sioux City and Mrs. Ruth Watson of Walthill; ten grandchildren and three step grandchildren.
