BRADLEY, H. John, 92, of Brilliant, Ohio, passed away Thursday evening, June 16, 2011 in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born December 2, 1918 in Waynesburg, Pa., a son of the late Francis L. and Mae (Turner) Bradley. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, H. Dennis Bradley, Leo Bradley and Dr. William F. Bradley; and three sisters, Mary Ellen Daniels, Zita Christopher and Ruth Roberts.
John was a retired maintenance worker at Central Ohio Medical Group in Columbus, Ohio. He also worked at Ohio Valley Dairy in Martins Ferry, Ohio. He was very active in the village of New Alexandria, having been a past mayor, held a seat on the council, a member of the cemetery board and also a volunteer at the fire department.
John was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Steubenville; the Buckeye Ruritan Club in New Alexandria; and also the Liberty Grange. Mr. Bradley also enjoyed riding his cart around town, stopping to visit people along the way.
Surviving are his devoted and loving wife of 72 years whom he married October 28, 1939; three sons, four daughters, a sister, 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and also on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third Street, Brilliant. On Monday, Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at St. Peters Catholic Church in Steubenville at 11 a.m., with Monsignor George Yontz as Celebrant. Interment will follow at New Alexandria Cemetery.
On Sunday there will be a Vigil service at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to either, Valley Hospice, Inc., 10686 State Route 150, Rayland, Ohio 43943; or the Brilliant Volunteer Fire Department, 403 Market St., Brilliant, Ohio 43913.
