He was born Nov. 2, 1927, in Canton, the son of Orville and Marie Holton Shannon. He married Betty A. White on Nov. 27, 1948, in Marietta. She preceded him in death on May 21, 2007.
Surviving are four sons, Ray (and Vicki) Shannon and Ronald "Tink" (and Theresa) Shannon, both of Marietta, Donald "Duke" (and Kathy) Shannon of Swan Creek and Bob Shannon of Kewanee; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1944-48.
He worked at International Harvester in Canton for 30 years.
He was a member of UAW Local #1357.
Graveside services will be at Marietta Cemetery.
