Henry "Hank" J. Cripe, 83, of Goshen, died Sunday, August 21, 2011, at Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born January 7, 1928 in Goshen to the late Henry and Bertha (Cripe) Cripe, Sr. He married Marcile E. Weldy on September 10, 1948 in Goshen. She died June 2, 2004.

He is survived by two daughters, Sandy Schneider and Debra Couturier, both of Goshen; two grandsons, Nicholas and Alexander Couturier; two sisters, Janet (Phil) Miller and Judy (Charles) Reed, both of Goshen; and special friend, Dottie Porter of Fort Wayne.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Cripe.

A 1946 graduate of Goshen High School, Mr. Cripe was an Indiana State Trooper for 21 years, retiring in 1972. An auctioneer, he also sold real estate, flew hot air balloons, drove school bus and did construction work, helping with the construction of Model Elementary School.

He was a member of Goshen City Church of the Brethren.

Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 26, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.

A 10 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2011, funeral service will be conducted at Goshen City Church of the Brethren with Pastors Bev Weaver and Steve Norton officiating.

Burial will follow in West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen.
