In a 1924 City Directory, Leon was first found married to Edna in San Diego, CA that named both. To date, marriage document has not yet been found, but determined – based on City Directories for Leon – they married sometime between 1917 and 1923.
It appears that Leon was the US Navy for most of his career. Documents found indicate that he had ‘retired’ at one point. At the beginning of WW II, CBM Leon Hall Buckles, returned to active service. He was killed in action 1 February 1944 and is buried at Fort Rosencrans National Cemetery 4 February 1944, grave 438 Sect. “E”
Edna Dickens Buckles died 6 August 1945 and was buried in the same grave site – with Leon on 11 August 1945. Together Again!
