Hastings, July 5, - Fred Bipley was instantly killed and Miss Hildreth Bywater, daughter of Thad Bywater, of Lake Odessa, sustained a broken arm and several broken ribs when the auto Bipley was driving turned over twice and landed in a ditch near Woodland Center, 10 miles north of here, yesterday afternoon. The other occupants of the car, Floyd Bates and his two sisters, the Misses Gladys and Mildred Bates, escaped with slight cuts. Miss Bywater is in Pennock hospital here.

The Bates girls said the accident was due to fast driving. The party, all residents of the vicinity of Lake Odessa and Woodland, were on their way to the American Legion carnival here. The car was demolished.
