John J (Joe) Ackerman, 43, Wakefield, died Friday, Jan. 18, at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center, Topeka.
He was born Oct. 13, 1941, in Concordia, the son of John R. and Clara Meyers Ackerman. A graduate of Glasco High School, he farmed with his father for 25 years. For the past eight years he was employed by the state highway department and the family lived in Wakefield.
He married Lorene Baxa in 1966.
Surviving are his wife and three children, Jerry, Robert and Lori, all of the home; four stepchildren; one sister, Mrs. Janie Ketterer, Concordia; and his mother, Mrs. Clara Ackerman, Delphos.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Clay Center. Rev. John Wesky and Monsignor Alfred Wasinger officiated. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. at Saint Peter’s Cemetery in Cloud County.
