Pete P. Lupinacci, a retired bartender and card dealer of Lewiston, died of emphysema Sunday at Lewiston. He was 72.

He was born Jan. 16, 1922, at Lewiston to Peter P. and Teressa Polillo Lupinacci.
He grew up and attended schools at Lewiston, where he lived most of his life. He lived briefly at Tillamook, Ore., in the mid-1940s. During the 1950s and 1960s he worked as a dealer at the City Club in Lewiston. He also was a dealer at the Smoke Shop in Lewiston until it burned down, and he worked as a dealer at Tom Smith's Nut Shop in Clarkston from the late 1950s until retiring in 1976.

He worked as a bartender in the 1950s at the Clarkston Moose Lodge and at the Jade Lantern in the 1980s. He played American Legion baseball in the early 1940s and won the Outstanding Player Award in 1943. He enjoyed horse racing and citizens' band radio.

Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Knight, Tammy Lupinacci and Judy Lupinacci, all of Lewiston; three sons, Joseph P. Lupinacci and Robin Lupinacci, both of Lewiston, and Terry J. Lupinacci of Pullman; a sister, Mary Gosse of Clarkston; seven grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

Three brothers, Joe, Frank and James; and three sisters, Nellie Akers, Jenny Johnson and Flora Simpson; died previously.

Visitation hours are from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Malcom's Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel in Lewiston. A service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at Brower-Wann, with burial to follow at Normal Hill Cemetery in Lewiston. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association.
