Vera A. Turley, age 80 of Greenville, passed away at 8:37 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2006 at Greenville Regional Hospital in Greenville, Illinois.

Vera A. Shaw Turley, the daughter of Ernie Charles and Sadie Belle (McCullah) Shaw, was born September 1, 1925 south of Greenville, Illinois.

She grew up north/west of Greenville in the Terrapin Ridge neighborhood, attended the Plant school and Reno High School for 3 years, and graduated from Greenville Highschool. She worked for DeMoulin Brothers, owned and operated Turley and Shaw Creamery with her husband, worked for Sims Dime Store and Ben Franklin Dime Store and helped her husband in the operation of their Farm.

June 30, 1943 Vera married Ellsworth Benton Turley in Cuba, Missouri. They enjoyed over 50 years of marriage before his passing on June 20, 1994.

They had 3 children, all of whom survive; Eldon E. Turley, John C. Turley and Beverly A. Stewart.

Vera is also survived by her brother, Richard C. Shaw, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Vera was an active member of her church, the Greenville First Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at the Donnell - Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Charles Reed officiating.

Interment followed in Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
