Michael R. Finneran
NEW LISBON _ Michael R. Finneran, 63, of New Lisbon, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, at his home.
He was born in White Plains, the son of Thomas and Barbara (Wyckoff) Finneran.
He was married to Janice Edwards at his home in New Lisbon in the mid 1970s.
He was a paramedic with Cooperstown Medical Transport for over 12 years. He was formerly employed at Morris Central School for over 20 years and at Hoyles Garage in Oneonta for several years.
Mike served as an Otsego County Deputy Fire Coordinator and fire investigator and also was the founder of Juvenile Fire Intervention Program in Otsego County. Several of the programs he initiated have been used statewide. He was also a member of the Garrattsville and Laurens fire departments and emergency squads. He also enjoyed camping and shooting.
Mike is survived by his ex-wife, Janice Molinari; his children, Kristy Finneran and Jamie Finneran, both of Oneonta; as well as a multitude of friends and co-workers. He will be severely missed by the community as a whole.
Calling hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at the Morris Central School auditorium with committal services and burial to follow in Hillington Cemetery and a gathering to follow at the Morris Fire Station afterward.
