James Walter Bailey, 78, died Thursday at noon at his home in Pullman. He was born in Lynn County, Missouri to Joseph Alison and Margaret Ann (Bryan) Bailey.

James came to Washington when he was 20 years old. He lived in Spokane for 43 years prior to moving to Pullman in 1941. He was a member of the Tyrian Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalie; three daughters, Mrs. Lucille Hall, Pullman; Mrs. Margaret Low, Hollywood; Mrs. Velma Rives, Los Angeles; two sons, Joseph R. Bailey, Brooklyn, N.Y., and Carl W. Bailey, United States army; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Hilby, Sharon, and one brother, Edgar Bailey, Fresno, Calif.
