William Lemon Shaw was one of 12 children (that I have accounted for) born to Thomas Baird Shaw and Magdalena "Lena" Zellers Shaw in York County, PA.

Sometime after 1870 he moved with his parents and two of his sisters to Thompson Township, Fulton County where he was a farmer and a wagon maker.

In about 1881, William married Sarah Ellen Shives of Fulton County and they had seven children:
Nora Estella, b. 4 Mar 1881,m. Harry Brewer Hill;
Viola Blanche, b. 24 May 1882, m. David Brubaker Chestnut;
Maurice Edward, b. 10 Jun 1883;
Alvah William, b. 23 Jan 1890;
Gaylen Brethed, b. 19 May 1891;
Bertha Ellen, b. 22 Dec 1893, m. Jobe Henry Hill;
Harry Wilbur, b. 24 Jul 1895.
