Adolphus Theodore Bretz,85, Athens Rt4 Civil War Vet.who participated in 33 battles in that conflict,and who died at 6 o'clock Monday evening,his service will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday at the Clarks Chapel Church with the reverend S,J.Bishop officiating.Burial will be in the Church cemetery.The war veteran,who made his home with his son Albert Bretz, Rt 4 Athens.suffered a stroke of paralysis Monday afternoon.After serving his term in the infantry during the war,he joined Company E Fifth regiment,Ohio Volunteer Calvary. He was under the command of General Phil Sheridan.He is survived by two sons,Albert and Amos.Two daughters, Mrs.Edward Secoy and Mrs.Fred Buck.While a resident of Lodi Township, Mr Bretz was a member of the Lodi Township Board of Education for several years.Family and friends may view the body at Jagers Mortuary.Proceeded in death by wife Hester Catherine Frost-Bretz of New York whom he married in Meigs County on Nov 6th 1874
