Elsie E. Crandall, 93, formerly of 925 North Governor St., died Friday, March 15, 2002, in Iowa City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a short illness. Services: Tuesday, Lensing Funeral Service. Burial: Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
Elsie was born May 22, 1908, in Bremer County, the daughter of Henry and Emma Kroblin Niemeyer. She was united in marriage to Ray Crandall on Aug. 26, 1947, in Waverly. Elsie worked in the laundry department at the University of Iowa from 1941 to 1975. She had been a resident at the Iowa City Rehabilitation Center since October 1996.
Elsie enjoyed the simple things in life - flowers, walking barefoot in the grass and washing her car in the rain.
Survivors include a sister, Elnora Schwin of Tripoli; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1967; and 11 brothers and sisters.
