A. EDWARDS DIED AT ADVANCED AGE
Archibald Edwards, father of Mrs. James Cogan, residing on North Sangamon Street, passed away at 6 o'clock Sunday [Oct. 21, 1923] evening at St. Clara's hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Edwards entered the hospital Saturday [Oct. 20., 1923] noon, both being quite advanced in age for treatment, the latter passing away a short time later.
Mr. Edwards was born Paris, Illinois, Sept 8, 1835, and died at the age of 88 years. 1 month and 13 days. He spent most of his earlier days in Lincoln, moving 19 years ago [1904] to California, where with his wife, they took up a government claim. One year ago[1922] Mr. and Mrs. Edwards returned to Lincoln, and since that time have made their home with their daughter Mrs. James Coogan.
Besides his wife, who is now 90 years of age, he is survived by the following children: William Edwards, Bluthe, [Co. not found. ?Blythe, Riverside Co.] Cal; Mrs. Charles [Mary] Miller, Calexico [Imperial Co.], Cal; George Edwards, Seeley [Imperial Co.] , Cal and Mrs. James [Nancy] Coogan, Lincoln [Logan Co.]. One daughter [Fannie W.]passed away in this city many years ago.
Mr. Edwards was a member of the local First Christian church where the funeral services will be held Tuesday [10/23/1923] afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. L. H. Hooe. Burial will take place in Union cemetery.
