Marjorie Woolsey Robertson, 97, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, June 9, 2003, at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital following a stroke at home a couple of hours before then. Marjorie grew up in Wichita Falls and Dallas, Texas, and earned her bachelor's degree in Speech from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She was married to the late Dr. Robert C. L. Robertson, a first generation Houston neurosurgeon, and devoted her life to caring for him and their two sons. She was active in community affairs and a leader in medical auxiliaries and service groups both locally and nationally, serving as President of the Harris County Medical Association Alliance 1958-1959, President of the Texas Medical Association Alliance 1962-63, President of the American Medical Association Alliance 1970-71 and President of the Blue Bird Circle 1977-78. Thirty five years ago, she and three other strong Houston area women {names omitted} founded The Living Bank, the oldest and largest organ donor education organization in the United States. She was also one of the founding members in 1952 of Houston's St. Martin's Episcopal Church. She is survived by her sons {names omitted}; seven grandchildren {names omitted}; seven great-grandchildren {names omitted}; niece and nephew {names omitted};the family of the late Nona Mae and Dr. Robert Fain, by Dr. Virginia Connolly of Abilene; and her loving caregiver, Marta Villanueva. Her family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons. Private graveside services will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
