Death of Mrs. Emma Tyng Occurs in Columbus: She Was a Very Brilliant and Accomplished Lade, and a Member of Prominent Family, Cols., Ga Nov 2. After an illness of thirteen months, Mrs. Emma Moffett Tyng aged 62 years one of the most brilliant and accomplished women of Columbus died at the hospital here. She was the last member of the prominent Moffett family widely known in this section of Georgia and Alabama.

Mrs. Tyng was an extensive traveler in both the new and old worlds and her lecture on The Holy Grail was received with much appreciation in various southern cities. She spent nearly all of the past few years of her life in New York and was prominent in literary circles there. She was the author of one novel and was a frequent magazine contributor. Her home in New York was a center for southern visitors.

=Thomas Mitchell Tyng was born 1 May 1834 and married 1) Elizabeth Newell Richmond who died 23 Aug 1870 and 2) 18 Apr 1872 in Muscogee Co., GA, Emma Louisa Moffett, a magazine writer; no issue (sic.)
