Dayton Lomax Dawson, Sr., 93, of Virginia Beach, Va., formerly of Berkeley Springs, died Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Atlantic Shores Nursing Facility, Virginia Beach.
Born November 28, 1924 in Berkeley Springs, he was the son of the late Raymond and Elise Mesner Dawson.
He attended Union Chapel United Methodist Church, Berkeley Springs.
He graduated from Berkeley Springs High School.
He was a carpenter for U.S. Silica in Berkeley Springs.
He was a member and a past master of Deford Lodge #88 A.F. & A.M. and a 32nd degree Mason in Berkeley Springs.
He liked hunting and fishing.
He is survived by one son, Dayton Dawson, Jr., Virginia Beach; one daughter, Cindy Zinfer of California and one grandson, Christopher Dawson of California.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Catherine Virginia Unger Dawson.
Memorial services will be on Saturday, April 28 at 2 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 36 South Green Street, Berkeley Springs, with Pastor Michael Leedom officiating. Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery.
