Erhart Kupfer Funeral Rites Are Held Today
Died Suddenly on Saturday Afternoon in the Burlington Yards
Funeral services for Erhart J Kupfer, 66, were held this afternoon at 2 oclock in the First Baptist church. Rev. D. W. Barclay officiated
During the services Mrs. D. W. Barclay and Mrs. P. A. Palmer sang "Nearer My God To Thee," "In the Garden," and "Going Down the Valley." Miss Joy Daly was organist.
Interment was made in the family lot in the Savanna township cemetery.
Mr. Kupfer died suddenly about 2 oclock Saturday afternoon in the Burlington railroad yeards where he has been employed as switch lighter for a number of years. Death as caused by heart failure.
The deceased was born in Allenstein, Germany, and came to this country when he was 17 years old. He came to Savanna in 1883 and resided here for 10 years. He then resided in Iowa, but returned to Savanna about nine years ago. At the time of his death he was living with his son, Allan, in Oak Park.
His wife, Susan died a few years ago. Surviving is the son, Allen, four brothers, Henry and Ernest who live in Germany, and George of Pleasant Valley and Chris of Zion, two sisters, Mrs. Sophia Toepfer of Pleasant Valley and Mrs. Margaret Hoffman of Polsgrove, Ill., and three grandchildren, Eugene, Saxon, and Agnes Kupfer.
