Daughter of Hiram H. Purcell and Partheney Williams Purcell. Her stone says she was born in 1839 but the Coryell County history says 1840.

Children (born in Wilson County Tennessee): Thomas Hatten Whitlock, Ellen Loretta Lee (Bland), Susan Partheney Tennessee (Hayes), James Hiram Whitlock, Lucinda Jane Jackson "Jennie" (Bishop), William W. Whitlock, Minnie Bell (Peck) and Andrew Frank Whitlock.

They came to Texas in the 1880's and settled at Osage, Texas. Robert was buried in Rhome, Texas in Wise County, as was her second husband, Booker Witt.
