He graduated from Richfield High School in 1982 and attended the University of Utah. His parents died when he was young and he assumed responsibility at an early age. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Jimmy worked at Lake Powell for 22 years in hospitality services and also worked in Seattle, Lake Tahoe, and other areas. He lived the last few years in Parowan.
Jimmy was known by friends and family as a loving, caring person totally without malice. He was an excellent cook, loved to read, and had a wide range of knowledge. He enjoyed the TV show, Jeopardy, and usually knew the answers before the questions were finished.

(JT) Jessen, Page, Ariz.; three sisters, Valeri Jessen, Salt Lake City; Vickie (Joey) Rollins, Richfield; and Deena Teeples, Cedar City; companion, Michele Wilson and her children, Katie and Charlie, Parowan; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. He married Lori at Lake Powell; later divorced. Jimmy also had many friends who traveled from Missouri, Oregon, Idaho, Arizona, Wyoming and Colorado to pay their respects.
