She was born January 21, 1921 in Lisbon, a daughter of William and Edith (Clapsaddle) Apple.
She was a 1939 graduate of David Anderson High School in Lisbon. She then graduated from business college and was employed as a secretary for the former J&L Steel in Cleveland for eight years before she began raising her family.
She married Bernard T. Herman March 6, 1947. They shared 31 years of marriage and many happy memories together until his passing July 4, 1978.
Irene was an active member of the Champion Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandson.
She is survived by her daughter, Darlene M. (Donald) Fitch, of Champion; a sister, Janice (Kent) Schmidt, of Arthur, IL; and a grandson, Ryan (Ashley) Fitch, of Howland.
Besides her husband, Irene was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Dawnelle June Herman; three brothers; Frank, Clinton "Bill", and Kenneth Apple; and a sister, June Steitz.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday, September 10, 2016, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, 533 North Park Ave., Warren, with Pastor Marvin Barney officiating.
Friends may call from 9 - 10 AM Saturday, at the funeral home.
