Dennis and his family moved from Peoria to Mulino, Oregon, where he lived with his parents until he enlisted in the Marines 11 July 1963, at a Portland Recruiting Office
Upon arriving in Vietnam, Dennis was assigned to Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. It was while the battalion was participating in Operation Prairie that Fox Company encountered hostile forces near a village, 2 kilometers north of Con Thien (Hill 158). Dennis died during the fighting from a gunshot penetrating the chest area as a result of hostile rifle fire.
Tour of duty unknown.
Dennis served his country for 3 years.
