United States Navy Sailor. He served during World War II aboard the "PT-109" under the command of Lieutenant and future United States President John F. Kennedy. A motor machinist, he received severe burns on both arms when the boat was sunk by Japanese destroyer in August 1943. He was the last surviving member of the final "PT-109" crew.
