Donald (Pinky) Harry Sixel, 70 Town of Centerville resident, passed away Tuesday July 18, 2002 at St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan, following a lingering illness.

Born Oct 12, 1931, in the Town of Meeme, he was a son of the late Arthur and Florence Vogel Sixel. He attended LaFollette elementary school and graduated from Kiel High School in 1950. Donald served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1957.

On Feb 18, 1856, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Lechler at Trinity Lutheran Church, Kiel. For a short period of time the couple resided in San Diego, Calif. before returning to their present home in Town of Centerville.

Donald was employed at the Cleveland Co-op for 39 years;15 years as general manager, retiring in 1996. He was a member of St John and St Peter Lutheran Church, Cleveland where he had served on the council as president of the congregation twice and also on the church finance committee. He was a member of the Cleveland Chamber of commerce and had served as president and Vice president for the organization. He was a member of People to People International and enjoyed the many foreign visitors. For 44 years, Donald belonged to a sheepshead card club. He enjoyed gardening, lawn work, his summer home at Horseshoe Lake and the daytime Pepsi club.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; two daughters, Denise (Randy) Drill, New Ulm, Minn., Diane Sixel, Kiel; two sons Thomas Sixel, Two Rivers, and Todd (Deborah) Sixel, Kiel; five grandchildren, Michael Drill, Minn Ivan Steffan, Kiel, Jessica Sixel, Sheboygan, Katie and Nicole Sixel Kiel; his mother-in-law and step-father-in-law, Florence and Herman Binversie; Kiel; one brother-in-law Emmet Truttschel, Howards Grove. Neices and nephew and friends also survive Donald. Preceding Donald in death were his parents; father-in-law, Michael Lechler; and sister-in-law Vannesa Truttschel.

Funeral services will be held 6:30 pm Thursday July 18, 2002 at St John's and St Peter Ev Lutheran Church, 1255 W Washington S. Cleveland, from 2 pm Thursday July 18, 2002 until the hour of service. A memorial fund has been established in Donald Sixel's name.
