Mrs. Margaret A. Adrian, 81, of Portage and formerly of Montello, died Monday, Oct. 8, 1990, at Divine Savior Nursing Home in Portage. She was born Oct. 12, 1908, in Fond du Lac, a daughter of Manley and Zoa Suprenand Carpenter. On Sept. 28, 1946. she married Sylvester F. Adrian in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 1981. For more than 40 years, she co-owned and operated Indian Echoes Resort in Montello Township, Marquette County. She also was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello where she served as organist for many years. She was active in both the State and National Music Teachers' Associations. She served on their certification boards and also was credited for pioneering a program whereby music teachers could become certified through testing rather than college education. She and her husband were active in the establishment of John Muir Park in Marquette County. She taught piano and organ for many years, and was known to play all types of music. She is survived by one daughter, Sylvia Adrian of Madison; one brother, James Carpenter of Fond du Lac; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Clickner of Summerland Key, Fla., Florence Adrian of Fond du Lac, and Grace Adrian of Milwaukee; and nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband; her parents; one brother, Robert; and one sister, Harriet. Mass of the Resurrection services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello. The Rev. Richard Lesniak will officiate. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Fond du Lac. Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Steinhaus Funeral Home in Montello, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Friends may also call Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. hour of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or Divine Savior Nursing Home in Portage. Steinhaus Funeral Home of Montello is handling arrangements.
