Miles Adrian

Miles D. Adrian, 78, of 211 E. Division St., who entered the dry cleaning business with his brother, Arch, as Adrian Brothers Cleaners, a business from 1929 to 1971, died at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Agnes Hospital.

Born Sept. 29, 1898, in Freedom, he was a son of the late Peter and Alice Pfefier Adrian. He was graduated from Colby High School, attended Lawrence College in Appleton and moved to Fond du Lac in 1919. He was graduated from the National Institute of Dry Cleaners, Washington, D.C. On Aug. 6, 1941, he married Florence M. Roberts at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Mr. Adrian was an accomplished musician. He and his brother organized a dance orchestra which was popular throughout the state for many years, and he played with other dance groups. He was a member of the Badger Symphony, Oshkosh Symphony, a 50-year member of the Fond du Lac Military Band, St. Patrick's Church Choir and Musicians Union 309. Mr. Adrian played at the Retlaw and former Idea Theaters for many years. He was also a member of Trier-Puddy American Legion Post 75.

Survivors include his widow; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Gumz of Fond du Lac and Mrs. Ann Rouse of Stevens Point; and two brothers, Syl of Montello and Arch of Fond du Lac.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Zacherl Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church. The Rev. Edward F. Sippel will officiate, and burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Friends of Mr. Adrian may Call after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family requests memorials be directed to St. Patrick's Church Choir Fund.
