Michael AHL
The following obituary of Michael Ahl is taken from the Weekly Telegrab(sic), published at Friend, Saline County, Nebraska.
The deceased was formerly a resident of this county, being a son of Adolph Ahl, who resided for many years a few miles below town.
Died, March 10, at his home in this county, Michael J. Ahl, aged 47 years. Mr. Ahl was born in Germany and came to America with his parents at an early age. At the age of 16 he enlisted in battery B, 1st Indiana Artillery, where he served one year and until the close of the war.
In 1871 he settled in Turkey Creek precinct, this county. For eight years he filled the office of county commissioner. Mr. Ahl had those characteristics which went to make a good citizen. He was kind to those who needed his assistance, generous to a fault and honest to the last penny.
About a week previous to his death he was seized with pneumonia, which was the cause of his death.
Mr. Ahl leaves a wife and two children to mourn his loss.

Deaths Of A Day In Nebraska
Friend - Michael Ahl died this morning from pneumonia and kidney complications. Mr. Ahl has very acceptably filled the office of county commissioner of this county for three successive terms.
During the late war he served in battery B , First Indiana artillery. He was an enthusiastic Grand Army man.

Son of Adolph and Elizabeth (Fichmann) Ahl. Veteran of the United States Civil War. Michael enrolled in the 1st Light Artillery Co. at Indianapolis, IN. on October 20, 1864. He was discharged August 22, 1865.
