US Congressman. Elected as a Jacksonian to represent New York at the Twentieth Congress, he served one term, from 1827 to 1829. Bunner was born in Savannah, New York, and graduated from Columbia College in 1798. He studied law while engaged in manufacturing and agricultural pursuits, was admitted to the bar in 1819 and set up a law practice in Newburgh. In 1822 he settled in Oswego, Oswego County, New York, where he had a cloth and carpet manufacturing business and was a member of the first board of directors of the Oswego Canal Company.
