Addine Malaby was born Vitie Addine Wells and was known as Addine and as "Deenie" to family. She was raised on the family cotton farm in the Alamance community four miles east of Atlanta, Texas. She was the youngest of eleven children, of whom seven survived to adulthood. Her parents were Stephen Calhoun Wells (Queen City Cemetery, Cass County, Texas) and Vitula "Vitie" Elizabeth Blaydes Wells (Hillcrest Cemetery, Bowie County, Texas). The Wells family lived in Alamance community near Atlanta, TX, the Midway community between Atlanta, Tx and Douglasville, TX, in Texarkana, AR and in Texarkana, TX. The Wells family moved from the Atlanta area to Texarkana in about 1916. Addine was a stenographer for Offenhauser Insurance Co. in Texarkana during the 20's and 30's and became a homemaker after her marriage to Norman Jewell Malaby in 1946. She joined Rose Hill Baptist Church in Texarkana and remained a faithful member until her death.
