On 4/7/07, I spent the day at the library doing research on relatives, and looked up old archived newspapers. I decided to look for George Silvia, Jr. I retrieved Jan-Dec. 1941 newspapers. After an hour of scanning small print microfiche of newspapers, I was just about to give up, figuring it was like finding a needle in a haystack and my eyes were about to give out, it was then that I found the write up on this little one's demise.
On July 9, 1941, George, his twin sisters, Judith and Barbara (8 years old), and a neighborhood boy were playing near a man-made pond near their home. The kids wandered off and went to the pond. George waded in and went in too far. He then must have lost his balance and fell. His sisters and the boy screamed for help. Firefighters searched and after a long time his body was recovered. George's mother was on the "verge of collapsing." His father, who was a State Policeman, raced to the scene. The firefighters were trying to revive little George, but the medical examiner said "there was no spark of life."
They had a small funeral for George at home in Bethel, CT. He is now buried in Center Cemetery.
Mother: Mary E (Steck) Silvia 5/17/1906 - 7/8/1992

**George, I'm so happy I found out about you. You were loved and missed.***
Please pray for this little one.
