James W. Hewins, 63, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Hamilton, NJ. Born in Abington, Pa., Mr. Hewins was a longtitme Hightstown, Nj area resident.
He was a graduate of Hightstown High School. Mr. Hewins retired from McGraw-Hill in 1995, after 28 years of service. Later, he was employed at Wal-Mart of West Windsor, Nj, as a greeter. He was an active member of Hightstown Fire Co. No 1, with more than 30 years of service.
Mr. Hewins is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Shirley A. Hewins of Hightstown, Nj and Kathleen and George F. DeFusco of Lamoine; two uncles, Charles Hewins Sr. and James Hewins; two aunts, June O'Connell and Lorraine Hammond; a niece, Katie Lamont; and nephew, Ryan P. Quill; three great-nieces and three great-nephews.
Funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 26, 2008, at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, 251 Franklin St., Hightstown, Nj. Interment was held at Greenwood Cemetary. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Hewins' memory to Hightstown Fire Engine Co. No. 1, 140 North Main St, Hightstown, Nj. Arrangements by Glackin/Saul Funeral Home, 136 Morrison Ave., Hightstown, Nj.
