"Johnny" was born in Utica, NE and the family later moved to Gresham, NE, where he graduated from high school. He moved to Carpinteria, CA in 1937 and later to Azusa, CA, where he worked for Miller Brewery as a foreman until his retirement.
He was married to Edna Peterson on May 29, 1937 in Santa Barbara, CA. There were 5 children: Roger, Robert, David, Susan & Joyce.
