Pioneer Woman Buried Sunday at Stone Cemetery

Mrs. J B Brown, pioneer citizen of Comanche County, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Janie Hart, near Proctor, Sunday morning, August 18th, and was buried that afternoon at the Old Stone Cemetery near Proctor. Funeral services were conducted by A. C Nance, minister of the Church of Christ of Comanche, assisted by her grandson, Rev. Geo. M. Sullivan of Austin.

Louraine Dunn was born in Arkansas March 4, 1858. At the age of 18 months she came with her parents to Comanche County and has lived here most of her life since.

She was married May 3, 1873 to J. B. Brown, who died Aug. 3, 1933. To this union nine children were born, seven of whom survive. They are W.H. Brown of Locker, Mrs. Janie Hart of Proctor, Mrs. Mike B. Sullivan of Comanche, Andy Brown of Goldthwaite, Arthur Brown of Carbon, J. Mack Brown of Richland Springs and Doc Brown of San Saba. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

She was converted and became a member of the Church of Christ more than fifty years ago, and during all the years of her activeness took a leading interest in all its works.
