He hung on for awhile but finally succumbed to the mortal wound. His body was sent back East to Ursina, PA. for burial in April 1882 amd then re-interred again at Glenwood Cemetery, according to their records.
Mary was no stranger to disaster, as later in life she lost her son William, and most of his family in a Steamboat accident on 5 Jan 1916. William's stepson, Earl Edgarton, had married on New Year's Eve 1915 and the Hoblitzell family were taking a trip to celebrate and go on the honeymoon with the newlyweds. Five days later the Steamboat "Kanawha" sank. The bride and groom survived but Earl's mother, Eleanor Hoblitzell, her husband William,Sr. their 2 sons John and William, Jr. and William's wife Myrtle (Mitchell) Hoblitzell and their young son, William Walter Hoblitzell, all drowned in the river.
