U.S. Congressman. Born in Pleasant Valley, New York, he engaged in mercantile and agricultural pursuits, plus was supervisor of the town of Owego in 1813. He also was the first Judge of Broome County, (1815-23) and a member of the New York State Assembly, (1817-19). In 1817, he was elected as a Republican to the Fifteenth Congress, serving until 1819. After his term, he was judge of the court of common pleas for Tioga County, (1833-38) a member of the New York State Assembly in 1834, and president of Owego village, (1841-45). He died at age 74 in Owego, New York.
