Peter Kevin Murray, 52, died suddenly at his home on Sunday, August 28, 2011.

The youngest of eight children, Peter was born in Kansas City, Kansas, on July 15, 1959, to Mary and Dick Murray. His family moved to Locust Avenue in 1966. He graduated from Charlottesville High School in 1978. He worked for many years at Virginia/Dominion Power.

Peter loved the great outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends. He had many fishing buddies but especially loved to spend time on the water with his brothers and his nephew, Charlie, and his friend, Lindsay Browning.

He is survived by his wife of fifteen years, Denice Fischer Murray of Lake Monticello and his beloved Pug, Cinnamon. His siblings will miss and cherish his memory, Tony Lane and his wife, Lynne, of Castle Rock, Colorado, Sis Chestnut and her husband, Larry, of Hiawatha, Kansas, Cathleen Marstellar and her husband, Rick, of Lenexa, Kansas, Rick Murray and his wife, Robin, of Arvada, Colorado, Mary Deaver and her husband, Pete, David Murray and his wife, Mary, of Charlottesville. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Christie Brown Bomberger and her husband, David, Emily Brown Beasley and her husband, Allen, Charlie Murray, Joshua Rogan and his wife, Eliza, and Eric Rogan and Ashley Renick of Charlottesville. He is also survived by his uncle C. Brian Kelly and his wife, Ingrid, of Charlottesville. He was very fond of his great-nieces, Claire Bomberger and Ryllen Beasley. He will be sorely missed by his many friends to include his life-long pal, Fish Dowell.

Peter was preceded in death by his much loved parents, Dick and Mary Murray; a brother, Stephen Murray; his aunts Claire M. Burke and Dorothy C. Curley.

A celebration of Peter Murray's life will take place at the Scottsville Pavilion from 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday, September 4, 2011.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lake Monticello Rescue Squad at 14 Slice Road, Palmyra, VA 22963.
