Arlind J. Poitra, age 81 of Dunseith, died Sunday at his home. Funeral will be held on Friday at 10:00 am at the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Dunseith. Wake will begin Thursday at 4:00 pm with a prayer service at 8:00 pm at the church. Burial will be at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery near Dunseith.
Arlind Poitra, a son of Frank and Rose (Azure) Poitra, was born on September 15, 1929 at Dunseith. He was reared and educated in Dunseith. He later moved out to California, where he worked as a truck driver. He later operated a tree trimming service. On August 7, 1964, he married Judy Norris in California. They returned to Dunseith in 1974 where they have resided since.
Arlind enjoyed dancing, playing cards, hunting, fishing and cutting wood.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Jerri Lynn Reile (Ronald) of Blanchard, ND, Arleen Larkin (Larry) of Lansford and Sylvia Duchaine (Mike) of Mohall; 4 sons, Arlind Poitra Jr of Dunseith, Cary Poitra of Charlotte, NC, Phillip Poitra (Debbie) of Wisconsin and Roderick Poitra (Roberta) of Belcourt; 30 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 2 sister, Mildred Nadeau of Dunseith and Sylvia Williams of Bismarck; 2 brothers. Francis Poitra of Minneapolis and Erving Poitra of Dunseith and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 5 brothers, 2 sisters and a son, David Poitra.
