Colonel Delane Frederick "Mo" Moeller, age 64, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was born October 11, 1946 to Frederick and Mildred Moeller in Marysville, Kansas. In 1965, he met the love of his life, Patricia Rulla. That night he told his parents that he had met the woman he would marry and he did just that on January 22, 1969. The couple lived in Lincoln, Neb., until 1969 when Delane began his career as an Armor Officer in the U.S. Army. They began their new adventure and traveled the world together. After 26 years of military service, Delane retired with a distinguished career as a U.S. Army Colonel, a charter member of the U.S. Army Acquisition Corps and a Certified Professional Contracts Manager. His military awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, three Meritorious Service Medals, three U.S. Army Commendation Medals and two National Defense Service Medals. Delane spent a combined career over 35 years in successful, performance-oriented leadership and has held several executive level management positions in the Department of Defense, as well as, private industry.

Delane was blessed with many rich friendships, a close loving family and a passion for life. He is best characterized as a man of integrity, determination and extreme generosity. He gave from his heart all that he had. He was a leader, teacher, mentor, friend, father and advisor to so many. A beloved son and caring brother, Delane was a tender loving husband, a truly great dad, a devoted grandpa and great-grandfather, and a faithful friend. His zest for life, the ability to laugh, the attitude that nothing was impossible and his faith in Jesus Christ was a motivation to us all. He will be greatly missed and leaves a legacy for generations to come.

Survivors: Wife of almost 45 years: Patricia Moeller; Children & Spouses: Christine and Dan Humphrey; Scott and Shannon Moeller; seven Grandchildren: Brendan and Hollie Humphrey; Kyle Humphrey; Amy Humphrey; Joshua Humphrey; Madeline Moeller; Aubree Moeller; three Great Grandchildren: Riley Humphrey; Brenlynn Humphrey; new baby Humphrey soon; Mother: Mildred Moeller; Sisters & Spouses: Sandra and Dick Ellis; Sherrie Caspers; Cindy and Jerry Frye; Sister-in-law & Spouse: Judy and Tom Pearson, Nieces and Nephews. Preceded in Death by his Father: Frederick Moeller.

Funeral service with full military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 3, 2011, at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S 14th Street, Lincoln, Neb. Burial: Lincoln Memorial Park. Visitation: Friday, September 2, 2011, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial service will be held Thursday, September 8, 2011, at Victory Tabernacle Church of God, 11700 Genito Road, Midlothian, Virginia. Memorials: Given in care of the Family for spinal cord research.
